Jewish Care bosses have welcomed the government’s announcement that Covid restrictions on adult care homes in England will be relaxed from Monday.
There will be no limit on the number of visitors, self-isolation periods will be cut and care homes will now have to follow outbreak management rules for 14 days, rather than 28.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid said he understood the importance of companionship to residents and the “positive difference” visits from loved ones made.
Jewish Care chief executive Daniel Carmel-Brown said: “We are delighted that more people will be able to visit residents in our care homes and we know how much this will mean to both our residents and their families.
“The safety, protection and well-being of everyone in our homes remains a priority and we look forward to taking steps to welcome more visitors once we receive the full guidance from the government.”
