A Young Jewish Care app was launched at the group’s young patrons dinner, held at The Dorchester in Park Lane and raising more than £160,000 for Jewish Care’s work.

Some 350 guests were told by YJC chair Lauren Shahmoon: “With demanding jobs and obligations, it often frustratingly feels like our contributions are likely to be insignificant in the grand scheme of things. This is certainly how I felt a few years ago. I have since learnt, however, of the many ways we can all contribute, be it time or money, and the huge difference this really makes.”

The app would help in this regard, housing “everything you need to know about Young Jewish Care under one digital roof — a full timetable of volunteering opportunities, young fundraising events and the latest Young Jewish Care news”.

Delivering the appeal, dinner committee member Dan Lehmann said that “with your support, we’re on track to raise the amount required to fund over 18,500 meals on wheels, or one of three dementia day care centres for a full year.
