Graham Gouldman will be continuing a family tradition when he performs at Manchester’s Stoller Hall on Sunday in aid of the £5 million redevelopment of Manchester Jewish Museum — “a museum my father helped establish”.

The concert will feature music from his days with 10cc and hit songs he wrote for artists such as the Hollies, Herman’s Hermits and the Yardbirds.

Stockport-born Gouldman said: “I’ve always supported the museum and its valuable work and am delighted to help as it enters a new era.”

His father Hymie, a historian and writer, was involved in a committee working to detail the community’s origins and development. This led to the creation of the museum in 1978.

Building work on the redevelopment — supported by a Lottery grant of almost £3 million — is scheduled to start in autumn.
