The Board of Deputies will be forced to leave its new headquarters less than a year after its move.
After the sale of the Board’s central London premises in Bloomsbury, the organisation moved into the UJIA’s premises in Camden at the end of the last year.
But deputies learned today that the landlords are giving the lease to a commercial organisation, leaving the Board to find a new home after September this year.
The UJIA are negotiating to remain until early next year.
As revealed in this week’s JC, talks had been taking place for the Jewish Leadership Council and Bicom also to move into the premises to form a “communal hub”.
Board president Vivian Wineman told deputies: “Exploratory discussions about co-location are taking place between the Board, UJIA, JLC and Bicom. This could be an exciting development for the community bringing these organisations into one hub. It was hoped that our current premises would be the location, as endorsed by the executive.”
