GG3v3 was set up by Mr Goldstone’s friend Martin Dyan. The pair first met at a JLGB summer camp when they were 12 and played basketball for years until Mr Goldstone, originally from Leeds, fell ill.
Mr Dyan said: “George and I shared a love of basketball and it is an honour to be putting on this event in his memory.
“George was a good man, a great friend, and a loving husband, brother and son, so it was very tough for everyone when he passed away.
“A year on, this event will allow us to share in his love of the game, his sense of fun and his belief in supporting causes that mattered.”
The event has been backed by the National Basketball Association and commercial sponsors.
