Late Jewish singing sensation Amy Winehouse is known for her top selling 'Back to Black' single – and international star Beyoncé Knowles has now released a cover of the hit. But not everyone is happy about it.
Mitch Winehouse, the late star’s father, said that he had not been consulted on the release of the cover that can now be heard on The Great Gatsby film trailer.
In a Twitter rant, the outraged father asked Beyoncé to contribute to the Amy Winehouse Foundation. “What if Beyoncé gave £100,000 to the foundation? Do you know how many kids that would help? Just putting it out there.”
The London taxi driver added that it was the “first I have heard about Beyoncé and Back to Black. Sounds like some of you don’t like the idea.
“Let me repeat. This is the first I have heard of Beyoncé doing Amy’s song.”
In January, a second inquest confirmed that singer Amy Winehouse died from accidental alcohol poisoning.
The musician, who died in July 2011, was found dead in her Camden home at the age of 27.
