Amy Winehouse has been spared jail after pleading guilty to assaulting a theatre manager during a pantomime.
The singer pulled the hair of Richard Pound, manager of Milton Keynes Theatre after he suggested she had too much to drink during a performance of Cinderella.
Ms Winehouse, 26, admitted she had been drunk when she called Mr Pound, 27, a “f****** c***” and pulled his hair.
At Milton Keynes magistrates court, Ms Winehouse pleaded guilty to one charge of common assault and one of disorderly behaviour.
She was given a two-year conditional discharge, and ordered her to pay £100 in compensation to Mr Pound, and £85 in costs.
The singer had drunk five double vodka and cokes before going to the theatre on December 19. When she became rowdy during the performance, Mr Pound escorted her to a private box.
On her way to the bathrooms, Ms Winehouse attempted to visit the bar again, and Mr Pound advised her to drink water instead of another double vodka and coke.
Ms Winehouse responded by grabbing Mr Pound’s hair. She then swore at Mr Pound through the lavatory cubicle.
Her lawyer Paul Morris said the incident had had a profound effect on her behaviour, and produced a letter from her GP claiming she had taken steps to curb her drinking.
He added that Ms Winehouse had repeatedly apologised for her behaviour, and said her abusive language was out of earshot of children watching the pantomime.
