Amy Schumer will make her Broadway debut in a Steve Martin-penned play later this year.
The comedian will play Corky in Meteor Shower – a play revolving around two couples at a California dinner party. Written by Mr Martin, it debuted at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre last year.
Ms Schumer’s profile has soared in recent years, through her critically-acclaimed sketch comedy show, Inside Amy Schumer, and the 2015 hit film Trainwreck.
She posted on Instagram this week: “I got to do a Steve Martin play in college and have loved him since I saw him as the waiter in The Muppet Movie.”
In a tweet, Mr Martin joked: “Just think, we can all love each other until the first day of rehearsal!”
The first production of Meteor Shower saw the role of Corky played by Jenna Fischer, who is known for her role as Pam Halpert (née Beesly) in the US version of The Office.
Keegan-Michael Key, co-star of American TV show Key & Peele, will also make his Broadway debut in Meteor Shower, which will open at the Booth Theatre in New York on November 29.
