My social action: Jumping out of a plane for a volunteering charity

Joey Kolirin, 26, is an adrenaline junkie when it comes to raising money. This weekend he will be skydiving with four others for the Jewish Volunteer Network
Why did you choose this cause?
The JVN do a lot for the community and the needy and work with hundreds of charities. I felt that supporting them would benefit the wider community and really assist the needy. They have great motives and give volunteers an opportunity to get involved in a number of ways.
Why did you choose this activity?
I love exciting things and doing them for charity makes it even better. What better way to spend a day? I have sky-dived before but it was on the spur of the moment. I hadn't planned for it and therefore I didn't have much time to worry about it. I have also done a bunjee jump in a mankini, I have trekked the great wall of China in memory of my father and to raise funds for a charity linked to his illness and I have climbed up to Everest Base Camp in aid of Diabetes UK.
How have you prepared?
I'm very, very nervous about the skydive but I know in the back of my mind that the funds are needed so I'm trying to convince myself that I am not going mad.
I am certainly going to need some mental support to get through this. Despite having done one before, for some reason I am really scared about it. So far I have raised £410 and my initial goal is £480. However I have introduced two other divers who have raised around £400 together and also put on a small event to help raise money and awareness.
