MAL suffered another bitterly disappointing result on Sunday as they slumped to a 60-run defeat against SKLP.
Skipper Gav Lebens won the toss and chose to bowl, and the first half of the SKLP innings went very well for MAL, as Anthony Cowan and Yoav Lebens exerted some control with the new ball.
Lebens was first to strike, Mukund well held in the gully by Gav Lebens. Cowan got the wicket he deserved, trapping aggressive opener Rashil lbw for 32.
Charlie Sherrard and Grant Traub continued the good work, with eight over spells respectively going for 23 and 20 runs.
Sherrard picked up a couple of wickets, catching Jessie off his own bowling for 17, and bowling Jay for 26. Traub had Vishal smartly caught at slip by Ian Lebens after a deflection off wicketkeeper Russ Corin.
Anup and Bob upped the aggression sensing that SKLP might not have enough, with Anup launching several big sixes in his 38.
His innings was eclipsed however, after he was caught at long off by Gav Lebens from the returning Yoav Lebens.
Jagdish launched into the MAL bowlers, dispatching them to all parts, with 10 sixes coming in his scintillating 79* in 26 balls.
His innings elevated the SKLP score to an outstanding 240. It turned out to be the difference between the two sides.
Russ Corin and Ian Salter opened the reply and took the score to 51 before Salter was caught at cover for 27.
Russ Corin was next to go, with the score on 92, run out for 19. Mark Landau played aggressively, scoring 33 in 31 balls until he holed out on the deep long on boundary.
His was the highest MAL score as a number of players threatened to get in, but perished trying to force the pace with the required run rate mounting.
MAL were eventually dismissed for 180 in the penultimate over and leaves them facing an uphill battle to try and rescue their season.
