Gwyneth Paltrow (below) has been talking about how her pal Madonna helped her beat the baby blues. Speaking on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Shakespeare in Love star recalled the problems she went through after the birth of her son, Moses, in 2006. Paltrow, who is married to Coldplay's Chris Martin, said it was Madge who helped her get through the dark times, and that it was after "a long, wine-soaked dinner" with her that she was determined to get herself back on track. She told the chat-show queen: "After I had [her first child] Apple, I would characterise it as post natal euphoria. I was on cloud nine, I was in a bubble, and then when I had [Moses] I didn't feel OK, I didn't feel right. He came out and I thought: ‘It's really strange, it's not the same, what's wrong with me?' I went down a slippery slope with it. It was about six months until I felt completely normal again. I didn't realise what was wrong with me." And that's not the only help that Madonna has given her pal - Paltrow is now fighting fit after six gruelling two-hour gym sessions a week with Madonna's personal trainer, Tracy Anderson.

Mark Ronson's love life may have taken a nosedive, but it seems all else it going pretty well for him. The über-record producer and star DJ bagged the "best live male" gong at the Vodafone Live Music Awards, beating off competition from Dizzee Rascal, Morrissey and Paul Weller. It may sound as though the accolade makes him the best man alive, but apparently it is more of a tribute to his musical prowess.

Half of Hollywood may seem to be backing Barack Obama to become President of the United States in November, but Barbra Streisand has gone a step further, headlining a fundraising concert in Beverly Hills. The star-studded audience included Steven Spielberg and Leonardo diCaprio.

The new series of BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing may have only just begun, but the bitching is already well underway, and poor old Rachel Stevens seems to be getting a bit of a rough time from fellow contestant, ex-EastEnder Jessie Wallace. An insider told The Mail on Sunday: "She [Jessie] was complaining loudly that Rachel Stevens and Lisa Snowdon got all the best dresses for the promotional shots."

Meanwhile, Stevens's fiancé, Alex Bourne, has been having lessons with her dance partner, Vincent Simone, to get himself up to scratch before they wed. Stevens told The Daily Star: "Alex is a very keen dancer so it made sense for Vincent to teach him a few of the basics. We're hoping that by the time our wedding comes round we'll be able to show the guests all we've been taught." Their wedding had to be postponed for the former SClub star to appear on Strictly Come Dancing, so hopefully their new found dancing ability will make it worth the wait.

DJ AM, aka Adam Goldstein, one of the world's hottest turntable acts, had a very narrow escape when he was involved in a plane crash which left four dead. He, along with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, suffered serious burns, but are expected to make a full recovery. The accident happened after the plane veered off the runway in South Carolina just hours after they had performed on stage.
