Where elegance and technology meet Tel Aviv’s urban environment - The Jewish Chronicle

In a radical departure from their more familiar model, Israel’s renowned Dan Hotels chain has debuted a surprising new design with their first “urban” hotel; a property aimed at the new generation of business travelers, hi-tech entrepreneurs and tourists alike.

Remodeling an iconic office building in the heart of Tel Aviv, The Link Hotel & Hub, an eight-story edifice of 94 rooms, represents an £8.5 million investment and eight years of research and development. Its contemporary design accentuates Tel Aviv’s vibrant social scene, incorporating street art and advanced technology into the guest experience.

The newest Link in the Dan chain has been deliberately designed to address the changing needs and priorities of the modern traveler, who have different demands than the guests of yesteryear. The hotel incorporates comfort, workspace and technology to create a relaxed ambiance and appeal to a younger age profile, a generation where connectivity is king.

Located on Shaul Ha’melech Boulevard, close to many of the city’s cultural outlets including the Museum of Art, Opera House, Rabin Square, Sarona Market, the hotel is also located near two major railway “links” ideally suited to the young traveler who wants to be close to action.

With no traditional reception desk, guests cannot help but to notice the unique concept as soon as they enter. The uber modern reception area, complete with video wall displaying news and images from around town, prepares guests for this new experience in hospitality. Instead of bellboys, Link guests will be greeted by Link Crew members, each one trained and experienced to provide every function of service in an “everyone does everything” philosophy.

The walls of almost all public areas, guest and meeting rooms display urban cultural artwork handpicked by award winning multi-disciplinary artist, Daniel Siboni who curated the project. Each floor of the hotel will exhibit a different local street artist, with even some furniture and sculptures in the main areas specifically created for the hotel. Part of the new brand’s allure, is a highlight on an urban atmosphere and a “can do” approach to service.

Guests are welcome to hang out at the “hub”, the huge lower ground floor space, adopting the popular shared workspace concept. With breakfast served from seven am and a meatless menu served all day, the area includes shared worktables or private meeting rooms of various sizes, board and retro video games, as well as a nine-foot Pool Table. A space where you can be alone among others and choose to rest, work or play.

The guest rooms deliver an optimal balance between compactness and comfort. While there is plenty of room to “swing the proverbial cat” there is not redundant space. Luxury features include a 55-inch smart TV, much bigger than in most hotel rooms, luxury bed linens, rain shower and different colored light settings.

As the Link Hotel develops it character, it will introduce the planned technological innovations, designed to meet the needs of the modern traveler. The Link’s guests will be able to perform many transactions through the exclusive LinkApp on their mobile phones, such as check-in and checkout, entering the guest room, controlling the lights, air-conditioning and operating the TV. With today’s traveler so comfortable making travel arrangements via their mobile phones, this matches evolving travel patterns. LinkApp additionally will serve as a virtual concierge providing another ideal link to the “city that never sleeps”.
