Zak Zilesnick is the national Under 15 table tennis champion.
Seeded No. 1, he claimed a thrilling five-set win over nearest rival Lewis Gray in the final to win the cadet title in Loughborough.
Zilesnick, 14, marched into a two-set lead before Gray fought back to level. But Zilesnick, who has only been playing the sport for three years, was not to be denied as he hit back to take the decider 11-9.
Zilesnick, together with Reece Tan, also progressed to the Cadet final before losing in four sets. He also reached the last 16 of junior event.
A regular for Brighton in Division One of the men’s British League, Zilesnick will not be competing at the Maccabiah as it clashes with the European Youth Championship.
A medallist at the 2007 European Maccabi Games in Rome, Zilesnick will partner Dov Katz in the men’s open doubles at Maccabi GB National Table Tennis Championships in Harefield on April 26.
