Manchester Wolves produced their best performance so far to beat a strengthened Old Alts B in the Cheshire Vets League.
As expected Old Alts turned up with five substitutes and a smattering of their first team players.
The Manchester Wolves players responded to being asked to concentrate from the start and the upshot was good quality passing and moving for 90 minutes.
The scoring was opened on 20 minutes when Mark Addis, who was outstanding , whipped in a cross from right back and Stu Cartwright headed down and in.
The opposition rarely threatened and their two against three overload against Manchester's midfield failed to produce results.
Goals from Marc Yaffe, a second from Cartwright and an own goal put Manchester 4-0 up and the introduction of Jimmy Haffner in midfield saw them dominate in that area as well.
True to form, Manchester had to give Old Alts something but in fairness a top strike into the top corner was their reward for continuing to put in the effort to make it 4-1 at the break.
The second half was a strange affair with Manchester keeping control and failing to add to the scoreline.
The opposition played on the break and rarely threatened as Addis, Schweiger, Sutton and Jenkinson looked solid as a rock-Howarth, making his debut in goal, could have sat in a deckchair at times.
One bright point was the fact that Buxton "did not score when he nut-megged the full back, and produced a good strike from a tight angle ... thank God the keeper saved it".
Manchester Wolves boss Darryl Lee told JC Sport: "Overall it was a good performance but as ever, there's room for improvement - finishing!"
