There will be no Israelis in the main draw of the Singles competitions at Wimbledon after Shahar Peer and Julia Glushko failed at the final hurdle of the qualifying competition.
Peer had progressed through two qualifying rounds, but she bowed out in the third round, losing 6-3, 6-0 to Michelle Larcher De Britto of Portugal on Court 3 on Thursday.
Compatriot Julia Glushko was looking to reach the main draw in back-to-back events for the first time after impressing at the French Open, but she crashed out 6-3, 6-1 against Maria Elena Camerin.
DAY THREE ROUND-UP
Shahar Peer moved to within touching distance of the main draw following a comfortable victory on Wednesday.
Peer beat Maria Sanchez 6-3, 6-2 in the second qualifying round.
Julia Glushko hopes to follow Peer into round three when she takes on Yurika Sema of Japan in match two on Court 5.
DAY TWO ROUND-UP
Julia Glushko and Shahar Peer ran out comfortable winners in their respective first-round match on Tuesday.
Glushko, the top-ranked Israeli female, beat Romanian Raluca Olaru 6-3, 6-4 on Court 7.
Peer ended the hopes of England's Melanie South with an impressive 6-2, 6-0 victory.
Julia Cohen of America tumbled out 6-2, 6-1 against Polona Hercog of Slovenia.
Amir Weintraub ran out of luck as he was beaten in straight sets by Austrian Matt Reid.
DAY ONE ROUND-UP
Amir Weintraub breezed into the second qualifying round after claiming a straight sets win over Peter Polansky in the Men's Singles.
The Israeli ran out a 6-2, 6-3 victor on Court One on Monday morning.
Wayne Odesnik is also safely through to the second round after claiming a 6-1, 6-4 success over Thiago Alves of Brazil.
But there was disappointment for Dudi Sela who went down in three sets against Stephane Robert. The Israeli crashed out 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 in round one.
