Emil Reinberg admits there is room for improvement after coming through a first-round thriller against Frederico Bonacia in the opening round of the Junior Boys Singles.
"It was tough because it was my first slam and I just kind of hung in there,” said Reinberg.
He served strongly throughout, with nine aces flying past Bonacia and just one double fault in a match last two hours and 18 minutes.
Reinberg said: “After losing the second set I kept my head together and pulled off the win.
"It feels really good to win at Wimbledon because it’s a hard surface and you have to get used to the court, so just it’s about hanging in there and putting your heart on the line.
"You have to make some adjustments and I feel like I did that.
"I like playing on grass. My game kind of fits with it since I hit flat and take long strides to the ball.
"My serve was really good and it made a huge impact and that’s what pulled me through for sure. Now I need to work on my forehand."
Reinberg will meet Denis Shapovalov of Canada in round two. He said: “I have beaten him before and he’s a good grass court player and has a very good lefty serve.
"But I’m feeling really good. I came through quallies so I’ve got a lot of matches under my belt."
Jonathan Erlich continues his quest for the Men's Doubles title, with Philipp Petzchner on Tuesday when they take on second seeds Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo. The quarter-final match begins after 4pm.
