Camila Giorgi of Italy moved safely into the third round of the Ladies Singles following a straight sets victory over Lara Arruabarrena of Spain.
Giorgi, the last remaining Jewish player in the singles, breezed to a 6-0 win in the opening set, playing some flawless tennis.
Arruabarrena produced a battling performance in the second, breaking Giorgi twice, but the 31st seed showed her class with some excellent winners.
It needed a tie-break to take Giorgi through, as she closed out the match on her seventh match point.
Speaking to JC Sport shortly afterwards, she said: "I played good, precise tennis in the first set, but in the second I hit too many unforced errors and allowed her back into the game.
"But I played the important points well and my serve got me out of trouble."
Giorgi will take on fifth seed Caroline Wozniaki in round three.
Wozniaki progressed following a victory over Denise Allertova, and she says she knows what to expect in her meeting with Giorgi, although she will not underestimate a player who has beaten her previously.
Speaking at her post-match press conference, she said: "Camila is a player that you don’t really know what to expect. She’s hitting every ball as hard as she can. Either it goes in or doesn’t go in.
"For me, it’s just about staying focused. I need to try to keep pressure on her. She serves well so I need to return well and try not to let her dictate too much. Once she can dictate, she’s a dangerous player. She is going to take the ball very early."
Jonathan Erlich and Philipp Petzchner remain on course to win the Men's Doubles title after conquering American Jew Scott Lipsky and Treat Huey in straight sets in round two.
There was disappointment for Diego Schwartzman in the Men's Doubles. His match, together with compatriot Leo Mayer, was cut short against Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo after the Argentinian pair were forced to retire, trailing 6-4, 4-0 after 49 minutes.
