Westdene 1st staked their claim for the runners-up spot with a 5-0 victory over Oakhill Lions. Raffi Bloom (2), Jordon Gold (2) and David Eden were their marksmen.
Westdene Reserves completed a successful weekend for the club in a nine-goal thriller against fellow strugglers South Manchester Maccabi 2nd. Adam Berman (2), Phil Wingate, Daniel Rose and Mike Cass netted for the reserves. Marc Conway (2), Jermey Myers and Daniel Linton replied.
Sheldon Lee and Nick Cohen steered Manchester Maccabi 4th to a 2-1 success at Haroldeans for whom Daniel Levitt netted.
Controversy ensued in another match, between Roy's Rovers and Crumpsall. The game was abandoned with five minutes remaining following an incident that resulted in an ambulance attending to Yossi Saunders who was involved in an altercation with Rovers' Leon Huller. With Rovers leading 3-2, the players had a "coming together" following a tackle. Ref Mike Cohen dismissed Huller and, with the injured Saunders still on the pitch, the game could not be completed. A report will be sent to the MJSL Executive Committee and Manchester FA, with no decision on the result as yet.
