Haroldeans boss Ivan Gee has warned his side’s MJSL title rivals they face a fierce fight to knock the Merseysiders off their perch. Gee’s men, who face Republic of Mancunia 1st on Sunday, have won all four of their league games so far this season and sit top of the table following last week’s 3-1 win over Oakhill. Bobby Abrams, Josh Silverberg and James Harris were all on target as Haroldeans took their goal tally for the season to a staggering 22. “We’re at the top of the table and that’s where we’re intending to stay,” said Gee. “We’re playing some really good football at the moment but the game against Republic will be our toughest yet. “They’re a good side and although they might not have had a great start, it will still be a difficult game. “What we need to do is make sure we’re more clinical because we missed so many chances against Oakhill.” With Manchester Maccabi 3rd enjoying a weekend off, Haroldeans took their opportunity to move ahead of the reigning champions on goal difference. And Gee believes it’s no less than his side deserve following their blistering start to the new campaign. “We’ve made a great start and we need to keep it going,” he added. “We controlled the game against Oakhill and could have run up a cricket score but for some great saves by their goalkeeper. “Republic will be tough but we’re playing some very good stuff.” Elsewhere, South Manchester 2nd held Republic 1st to a 2-2 draw at Frederick Road with Jake Feinstein and Dan Linton grabbing the goals. Daniel Klapisch and Gabriel Franks scored for Republic 1st, who wasted a whole host of chances to seal all three points. Hyde Park announced themselves on the MJSL scene with the 8-1 demolition of Crumpsall. David Herman hit four and Ben Robuck netted a brace, while Oli Grant and Paul Clayton both on target. Hyde Park’s next opponents, Republic of Mancunia 2nd, continued their encouraging start to the season with a 6-1 win over struggling Leeds Maccabi 3rd. Andrew Shaffer and Shlome Friedman both scored twice with Ben Newman and Anthony Simon completing the rout. Sporting JLGB got back to winning ways with the 5-0 thrashing of basement boys Broughton. In-form striker Adam Herman scored twice, while Rafi Bloom, Jason Deach and Danny Jacobs also hit the target.
