Adam Lustigman believes his Maccabi Masters side are on target for glory at the 2013 Maccabiah Games following their Futsal title triumph.
Maccabi sealed the Middlesex FA Futsal Fives Division One Championship at the first attempt following their silver medal success at the European Maccabi Games in Vienna in July.
The oldest team in the tournament, Lustigman's men overcame four other sides to clinch top spot and the Maccabi boss is hoping it is a step in the right direction.
Lustigman said: "It was very nice to win the league, but the main thing for us was making sure we carried on for the Maccabiah Games in Israel.
"It was just great to get everyone back together after Vienna, play together again and get some more experience.
"Most of our players, with the exception of Vienna, haven't played that much futsal. They usually play 11-a-side football.
"Hopefully this has given everyone the appetite for more and we can now go on and be very successful."
Victory was confirmed with a 6-3 success over Young Boys (Brentwood).
Maccabi won six matches to hold off the challenge of Magic Johnsons and EMA and win the title by three points.
"We were playing against teams with kids half our age, but they didn't have the organisation or experience that we had.
"They could play football but futsal is completely different to five-a-side and our experience was key."
Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and Jonny Cohen's Open side will make their debut in the new year.
Lustigman is now hoping Maccabi can play a lead role in developing the sport in the future.
"Our next league starts in January and we would like to look ahead and invite people into the team who we think might be interested," he said.
"We're building for the future."
