Stuart Delmonte, manager of Manchester Maccabi 1st, believes that his side needs to strengthen before they can consider themselves contenders to win the Peter Morrison Trophy.

His claim comes on the back of a 3-1 victory over arch rivals South Manchester 1st in a hard fought tie where all the goals came after half time.

South tried to stifle the visitors with Maccabiah star Michael Filson passing a fitness test to take his place in a five-man midfield. But once Maccabi broke the deadlock, there was no way back for South.

Delmonte said: "It was a very good team performance. We stuck to our guns and played football, and over the 90 minutes, both managers agreed that the best team won.
