Israel made history after winning gold in the European Championships – and then dedicated their triumph to Shon Mondshire.
Peter Kurz’s side romped home after beating hosts Slovenia in the final.
All squad members had the initials SM emblazoned on their caps in memory of Mondshire, the former Israel baseball player who was killed while serving in Gaza.
Team Israel manager Kurz said: “The team played phenomenally. Their dominant performance at the tournament proves that Israel baseball is firmly on the international map."
Israel began well by sweeping past Finland 13-1 before downing Latvia 9-0.Romania were next to be sent packing after an 8-3 semi-final win.
And Slovenia could not stop the Israeli juggernaut as they were crowned champions with a 14-0 win.
As well as taking home gold, Israel also sealed a place in the B Pool of the Confederation of European Baseball for the first time.
Kurz added: "This wonderful victory is a historic moment for Israel baseball."
