Maccabi GB took bronze at the fourth Maccabi Masters competition in Israel after beating Maccabi Moscow 4-0 in the third-place playoff.

Braces from GB top-scorer Marc Morris and Mark Kingston wrapped up a convincing victory.

GB started the competition with a hard-fought win over Maccabi Buenos Aires. Tony Platman and Morris helped them come from behind to complete a 2-1 win. This was followed by a 2-2 draw against the Moscow Government team when they battled back with goals from Kingston and Morris.

Their chances of winning the event ended with a 6-1 defeat against Israel with Morris claiming a consolation.

The Moscow Government team won the tournament after beating Israel on penalties in the final.

Head of Delegation Stuart Lustigman said: "I was fortunate to head an outstanding group of 32 who represented Anglo Jewry with considerable pride and once again demonstrated the value of the Maccabi Movement that uses sport as a tool to promote the centrality of Israel and Jewish continuity.

"Each participant had the opportunity to experience the remarkable progress of the infant State and its journey through great happiness and sadness. I really have to thank those who joined me on this wonderful tour for making it possible."
