The best two teams in the JC MSFL will go head-to-head on Sunday as Chigwell Athletic A entertain runaway leaders North West Neasden A at Hadley FC in Arkley.
Thirteen points clear of their nearest rivals, Neasden have been scoring for fun this season with captain marvel Lee Cash in red-hot form. The Maccabiah hopeful has already scored 25 goals this term and going into the tie on the back of a seven-goal bonanza last week, will be the one to watch out for.
Looking ahead to the game, joint-Neasden manager Jamie Cole commented: “We are approaching our biggest game of the season full of confidence. This match will be special, there’s no doubt about that. We always want to win our games, including a pre-season friendly and we hope this match will bring out the best in Neasden.” Cole has also vowed not to let keeper David Fox take another penalty after missing against Harmen last week.
The Chigs are the only other unbeaten team in the Premier Division and the match is the perfect way to bring down the curtain on the
programme for 2008.
Love was in the air in Mexico last week when Faithfold stalwart Alex Levack made a successful proposal to his sweetheart Amanda Slater. The football agent, 29, set the scene: “During dinner on the beach, I asked the waiter to bring her meal on a plate with a big silver cover to throw Amanda off the scent. It was so dark she thought the box was a chocolate brownie and I kept on saying open it open it, but she didn’t get it until I got down on one knee and popped the question.”
FC Marylebone go into their pro-longed winter break with several team members returning to France. And it appears that the team’s future is in good hands as the wives of co-managers Jonathan Davody and Marc Taboul are expecting baby boys. The pair are already tipped to front the Marylebone attack in 2026.
Davody will be away in Paris until around mid-February as he wants his son to be born in the country he will represent as a footballer. Co-manager Marc Touboul will run the team in his absence and skipper Mikael Benguigui will have expanded responsibilities on the coaching side.
