A James Temple double steered first division South Mancs into the second round of the Henry Swerner MMFL Cup, sponsored by Tux’n’Tails, following a comprehensive 4-0 success over Marshside at the Hive.

In the only game played in the Masters today, Division 2 new boys Marshside contained Mancs for the majority of the first half, and could have gone ahead when David Hyman was put through one-on-one with the goalkeeper but he placed his shot wide.

With Len Wyse commanding in goal for Marshside, it didn’t look like Mancs would break the deadlock, until they won a free kick on the edge of the Marshside box just before the interval, and from the resulting free kick, Mancs’ Richard Reggel guided his header into the corner.

South Mancs doubled their lead with a Temple penalty after the break, and they went further ahead when Ben Kent finished off a fine passing move with a first time shot from outside of the box.
