FC Team C staged one of the comebacks of the day as they battled back from two goals down to beat Oakwood 3-2 , with James Milman the unlikely hero.
Adam Blin and Jacob Richler-Kleiman had put the Oaks in charge, but Team hit back in style, netting from three second-half corners via Freddie Marks, Dan Alfreds and Milman.
Marks started the comeback with an excellent turn and finish from close range. Team then equalised in bizarre circumstances as Alfreds curled a corner straight into the net.
With some fans leaving, there was a late twist as another dangerous flag-kick from Alfreds was headed home by super-sub Milman for only his second goal for the club in four seasons.
With FC Team B doing their C-team a favour and beating second-placed AC Mill Hill, David Gordon praised his players for a tremendous show of character.
He told JC Sport: "Dead and buried at half-time, there were some strong words said, and we came out in the second half and showed real character to turn the game around.
"This was far from our best performance, and we rode our luck at times, but I was so proud of the boys for the way they battled back and gave everything for what could be a very important three points.
"Seasons can be made and broken on turning points and yesterday we may have had ours."
Oakwood came away feeling they deserved at least a point after hitting the woodwork five times. Boss Jason Stein told JC Sport: "I'm rarely lost for words but full time today was a difficult moment. “Because if was a loss and I think we don’t deserve to lose, we were closer to the goal than them and we have seen for us the difficulties in defending corners. But aside from that, the corners, how can I criticise?
"How can I criticise two goals of such beauty and understanding from Adam Blin and Jacob Richler Kleiman? How can I criticise when you hit the woodwork five times against the team that everyone says is a good team? When my goalkeeper has barely a save or touch to make? When we attack like lions and at 2-0 hit the bar, and at 2-two hit the post? When my players play so well in these moments and do not put one foot wrong in normal play? When there is chance-after-chance-after-chance? When my players ask, 'boss, what is wrong?'. What can I say? I can only say 'you must all defend corners better.' You must learn. That is the only way.
"Four second half corners, three goals. What is this? What is happening when you concede three corners? Can you believe it? I cannot.
"You must ask FC Team C about the way they celebrate after the match. Because they celebrate like a team who know they did not do enough in a normal moments to win a normal match.
"They tell me FC Team C is so brilliant. Perhaps I see they have clear technical ability, but when my team goes out there from minute one to minute 90 and plays so well then have to nothing to show for this, this is a shame.
"Next week we will play AC Whetstone. Next week we will win."
