MACCABI LONDON LIONS MASTERS vs OAKWOOD A
League champions Oakwood could not have asked for a tougher draw than Lions Masters away, as they look to win the Jewish FA Cup for the first time.
Beaten for the first time in the league in 14 months by Hendon last weekend – though it needed a special strike from Zac Lewis – the Oaks must beat a Lions team featuring a Who’s Who of Jewish football – including some of the MSFL greats of yesteryear – and possibly a former Player of the Year or two.
David Woolman hauled them level against Hendon following some excellent work from Brad Wine, who is enjoying a purple patch of form at the minute. He is the heartbeat of this Oakwood team this season and much of their play goes through him.
Ahead of kick-off, Oakwood joint-manager Dan Kristall told JC Sport: "Sunday is a step into the unknown for us as we don't really know the kind of side Lions will put out. What we do know is, it will be a side full of talent and we are taking this game very seriously.
"The next two games are vital. We must bounce back from the Hendon slip and we really want to go far in the cups last year after last season's surprise defeat to lower league oppo.
"As I said post match last week, our squad and especially our midfield was stretched. Our entire starting midfield really shouldn't have been playing. None of whom completed the game but they put their bodies on the line for the team. That's what it is all about at Oakwood.
"We welcome back Rafi Stone this week who has been away. He could not return at a more vital time. He was brilliant in the latter part of last season in central midfield and with our issues in this area over the last couple of months.
Lions boss Dan Jacob will know Oakwood are a strong and powerful team. They have a great work ethic, don’t concede many and lots of willing runners.
The Masters eliminated a couple of strong Premier teams last season, having entered the competition as part of their preparations for the Maccabiah Games. And they will be relishing the challenge of rubbing shoulders with the ‘best Jewish team in the land’.
Oakwood have aspirations of going all the way, but even with Lions missing key players, they must treat the 90 minutes as though it is the final itself.
JC team news: Sam Cantor and Josh Cuby are away for Oakwood. Kyle Bentwood should play. Dan Rose is a big doubt. David Woolman has recovered having only been able to make the bench last week, Dale Bradman could play depending on his late fitness test - another big player that has been missed. Brad Wine is suspended. Rafi Stone is welcomed back and will be joined by Luke Brookner.

MGBSFL PREMIER DIVISION
BRADY MACCABI vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A
It’s the clash of the titans at the Lane as the juggernauts of Brady Maccabi and Redbridge get ready to rumble.
The teams currently sit one and two in the table, and see Brady looking to settle a score.
“Revenge is the name of the game as we will be looking to put our worst performance of the season in the reverse fixture firmly behind us,” Brady boss Joel Nathan told JC Sport.
Nathan is referring to September’s horror show when Redbridge ran riot, winning 5-2 with goals from speedster Daniel Garfinkle (2), Russell Goldstein, Richie Caplin and Scott Oldstein.
Brady have responded well since, beating both Lions teams and they are scoring goals for fun. Not to mention the 14 goals they scored in the cup last weekend.
Nathan went on to say: “We know we will be in for a real battle on Sunday as Jon will be bringing a top team to Rowley Lane.
“We are again missing certain key players so have had to change things around again but the guys know the importance of Sunday’s match if they want to challenge for the title.”
Redbridge start the match one point behind Brady, with two games in hand. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they man-mark Reiss Mogilner who has enjoyed a magnificent first three months of the season. Adam Hakimi, Richie Caplin or Craig Sandford could all fill that role. Stanley Offord and Ben Kohler are also in top form, while James Joseph made a goal-scoring return in his first outing last weekend.
Redbridge made a matzah pudding of Division One leaders Faithfold in the cup last weekend. The evergreen Steve Summers and young Nathan Sollosi helped themselves to hat-tricks, and Daniel Garfinkle, Sam Sollosi and Scott Oldstein will be looking to steal the headlines this weekend.
The recent defeat against Lions Blue was a shock to the system. But RJC fans believe the players are back in the zone and ready to put in the perfect performance.
Discipline will be key on Sunday and both managers will remind their players the importance of keeping 11 men on the pitch.
It’s a hard one to predict, but a draw would be a better result for Redbridge, and Hendon and Oakwood … it should be a cracker.

HENDON UNITED SPORTS vs NORTH LONDON RAIDERS
Hendon got the job done against Oakwood last weekend – with many of their fans strike talking about Zac Lewis’s stunning late winner.
The Reds were excellent in the first half and weather the tide in the second, before Lewis secured the points with a goal out of the top drawer.
Manager Greg Corin was delighted with the collective performance, but he also praised centre-half Larry Cohen who marshalled the Hendon defence like he’s been playing there for years. And, as you’d expect, having Russ Corin back in nets made them even more assured.
They go into Sunday’s meeting with Raiders as firm favourites. Raiders were taken to extra-time by Division One strugglers Temple Fortune last weekend and they seem a little light up top at the moment. Defender Zack Neiman was their star performer. He excelled at both ends of the pitch, chipping in with two crucial goals.
Raiders would love nothing better than to end Hendon’s 100 per cent league record, but I’m predicting a home win.
JC team news: Larry Cohen, Dovi Fehler and Josh Bentley are unavailable for Hendon. Alex Rosenthal returns to the squad, while Russ Corin and Yoav Kestenbaum are available and looking to build on their return to full fitness.

MACCABI LONDON LIONS WHITE vs CAMDEN PARK
There have been celebrations in the Lions camp this week, with manager James Gershfield welcoming twins into his household. So Ryan Springer will be in charge for the visit of Camden.
Conor Perl (2), Tyler Smith (2) and Eshed Calman were the goal men in last week’s cup triumph over the same opponents, with Camden boss Stirling Kay lamenting some poor defending that effectively ended his team’s hopes.
Kay is waiting to hear on several players who may recover in time for Sunday. He told JC Sport; “It’s become a nightmare with all these long-term injuries we keep picking up, which is affecting us during matches.”
Lions have no such problems, of course. And I can only see another comfortable Lions win.
JC team news: Camden are struggling to get a side out for Sunday, according to gaffer Kay. Their injury woes worsened, with Dan Orgel, David Khalastchi and Dan Sherman definitely ruled out with hamstring problems.

LOS BLANCOS vs OAKWOOD B
Having completed a cup double Raiders B, Blancos have their sights set on returning to the top of the table ahead of the weekend visit of Oakwood.
Simom Moses produced his Sunday best against L’Orange last weekend, converting three razor sharp finishes.
Joel Barnett was excellent in defence, while Gav Krieger sealed the win with a well-taken strike.
Blancos have an identical league record as Oakwood and they will need to be ready for everything Jason Stein’s men will throw at them.
Stein is in a good place right now. He was typically upbeat during his midweek press conference and told JC Sport: “You know I’m a happy lad DC. Through seven games in all comps and the football we’re playing is some of the best I’ve seen us. The ball is on the floor and we’re scoring goals.
“The league record is good. But it should be oh so much better. We’ve got to cut out the silly mistakes and unforced errors. The new lads - Ben Feingold and Jordan Sherne - have also been really good for us.
“That’s been my message to the boys. In the games we’ve not won - and Redbridge 3-3 and Faithfold 3-4 spring to mind - we’ve been our own worst enemy.
“We’ve had a nice fortnight break now which has hopefully recovered some minds and bodies for the task ahead.”
We'll know a lot more about the qualities of both teams come Sunday lunchtime so let battle commence.

Both Raiders B and Faithfold A have seen their hopes of cup glory ended prematurely. Now it’s all about the league.
Faithfold boss Avi Markiewicz talked about player commitment in his post-match conference but I expect all his big players to return for what could be one of their toughest games of the season.
Raiders have a 100 per cent record at home and I expect them to be at their best against a team that will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.
This promises to be a top-quality contest decided by small details.

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE C vs SCRABBLE FC
Scrabble will be aiming to finish the weekend in top spot as they make the long trip to a Redbridge C team just one spot off the foot of the table.
The Scrabble boys have made a terrific start - unbeaten after six league games - which is refreshing to see after a summer of uncertainty - with several big name stars departed. So credit to manager Ray Abrahams and co for hitting the ground running.
Zac Summerfield has taken his game to another level, showing great maturity as some of Scrabble's rivals have tried to rough him up.
Craig Edwards has also shown us another side to his game, adding goals on a regular basis, while Ben Bowers has been a sound addition.
Ahead of kick-off, Abrahams told JC Sport: "We've been on a fantastic run in the last few weeks but the players know that every team in our division can produce a performance on the day and we will be paying Redbridge the greatest respect on Sunday because they've already given some good sides problems this season.
"Nobody is going to give us promotion on a plate this season and we have to continue to work hard in every game and try to pick up as many points as we can and see where we are in the mix next May.
"We are glad that we had a break last weekend as it's given some of our injured players the extra time to recover and be ready for Redbridge."
On paper, Redbridge's team look strong. They have a plethora of players with top-flight experience but some reason it simply hasn't clicked for them yet.
They will have their hands full with Summerfield as Scrabble go for the jugular.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C vs HERTSWOOD VALE
Raiders made a big statement last time out. But it’s important they follow it up with another. And another. And another.
They have been hampered by inconsistency over the first three months – winning three and losing three of their league matches.
But the signs looked promised when they wiped the floor with promotion rivals Catford last time out. It was a proper performance that really ticked all the boxes.
With a strong squad available, manager Sam Rose expects a big performance from his men. He is confident his big players will step up and lead Hertswood a merry dance as they look to keep the pressure on the top four.
Rose told JC Sport: “With our strongest squad available since Matchday Two, I’m hoping for a really strong and positive performance from the boys.
“We beat Catford 5-1 in our last league game and I expect us to continue this run against an improving Hertswood team.
“They’ve definitely improved since last season and gave Bayern Mincha a scare earlier in the season, so we’ll have to concentrate and look to play on the front foot straight from the off.”
Hertswood are “looking forward to pitting ourselves against a few familiar faces, in particular opposition manager Sam Rose,” according to joint-boss Jacob Emanuel.
They have lost five on the spin and were forced to concede their scheduled tie against NLR’s first team in the Morrison.
But Emanuel assured me his boys will be up for the challenge on Sunday. “There will be no love lost on the pitch, as we’re keen to close on the three points between us and Raiders,” he told JC Sport.
“I’m sure both teams will want to move on as quickly as possible from last weekend’s results, and Sunday is a perfect opportunity to do just that.
“Having lost both fixtures last season to this lot, I’m keen to get our third win of the season on the board.”
When Raiders click, they can be irresistible. I can see them scoring an early goal and making it a tough 90 minutes for Hertswood.
JC team news: Raiders are “pretty close to a full-strength squad," with the returning trifecta of Nick Haringman, Alex Elf and Liam Stein to go hunting for goals this Sunday. Jordan Sapler remains sidelined with a long-term injury.
Hertswood welcome back a few big names including the likes of Joni Hirschowitz, James Neidle and Ashley Hirschberger, whilst Ben Chiltern could be set to return to action from injury.

BAYERN MINCHA vs MILL HILL DONS
There's a real treat in store in Willesden as title rivals Bayern and the Dons go head to head.
The Bayern boys gave an excellent account of themselves in the cauldron at Rowley Lane against Premier Division Lions Blue last weekend.
That man Adam Ellis found the net again, and gave a top-flight defence a torrid morning. His pace and energy levels saw Bayern execute their game-plan to perfect and come oh so close to one of the shocks of the season.
Goalkeeper Joe Nyman was another player to come away from the home of Jewish football with his head held high.
Bayern joint-manager Alon Pinhas told JC Sport: "Well, this game is definitely going to be an interesting one. The Dons are one point behind us with a game in hand, so we know that they're going to pile the pressure on Sunday.
"However, I would say that we have handled pressure quite well this season and showed that we will give a good game to anyone.
"I've spoken to the lads about how important this game is and they all seem extremely up for it, therefore this game should be rather exciting.
This is our first game in a while on our home pitch so we are looking to keep our 100 per cent record in the BenniTech Arena going.
"From the 14 players in the squad, we have three players who are all carrying knocks, however we are still 100 per cent confident that we can and will come away with three points and will not be satisfied with anything less."
Meanwhile, the Dons were picking up their sixth league win in seven in a thrilling affair against the Pirates.
Having heard loads about Josh Cinna, I was mightily impressed with the ace defender, who looks to have everything in his locker. And it's only a matter of time until he's playing in a higher division.
Zach Cohen also caught the eye, scoring one and setting up another. He was a real menace, and his battle against the Bayern defence will be worth the admission fee alone.
Dons boss Brandon Hamme told JC Sport: "Games don’t get much bigger than this one. First against second - a win will take us top.
"We have the luxury of a game in hand to fall back on but this is still a crucial promotion six-pointer.
"We are fully aware of the other teams up and around us as well, so we will be desperate to not drop points.
"We know Sunday’s game will be challenging, Bayern have shown on several occasions this season that they are very serious title contenders - their performance against us in the cup a few months and their result last week in the cup have shown they are no pushovers.
"However, we have also shown as well that we are no pushovers and that we are title contenders, no-one has won more games than us in the league this season.
"We have been playing some great football and have been playing with lots of confidence. At times that confidence may have turned into complacency in last week’s game against Straw Hat but in the second half, I thought we were superb and showed a real grit and resilience, which will be crucial attributes for us to take forward if we are going to continue this title challenge.
"We are fully aware of the danger that Bayern and Adam Ellis possess and we know it’s going to be tricky but I believe if we are our best we are more than good enough to come away with something from this game."
Confidence is everything in football and both Bayern and the Dons have it in abundance. This is a good moment for both clubs. And I believe that quality will be transferred on to the field for one of the games of the season.
JC team news: Bayern received some bad news in the build-up to kick-off, with confirmation that skipper Jake Dayan will be joining the injured Adam Biton on the sidelines until January. Therefore, Samuel Leader will be captaining the hosts. Nicky Cooper, Nathan Hanan, Josh Levy and Sam Leibert, who has been exceptional for us in the last few matches, are also out for this match, which leaves Bayern "extremely limited with our attacking options".
There’s no Adam Lisberg for the Dons but both Sam Demby and Oliver Burchell return from injury. Skipper Nicholas Phillips returns from an exam hiatus.

Fortune's charismatic managers Darren Zitren and Steven Black are doing a grand job keeping morale up in a season when results haven't gone their way.
"We’re all really excited and raring to go for Sunday," Black told JC Sport. "Our performances have improved significantly over the past few weeks and it seems that we’ve started to turn the corner and gel as a team.
"We now need to send a message to those around us in the league table and we’re hoping to do just that come Sunday.
"We know the game will be a tight affair; Faithfold have had a similar set of results to us this season and if we’re being honest, the game will be won by the team that wants it more.
"If we do the basics right by defending well and by taking our chances in attack, we’ll be fine."
Faithfold have a 100 per cent loss rate at home. I believe the pitch at the Hive is a little big for them but for the next 90 minutes, it's important they focus on the task at hand.
