BRADY MACCABI vs MACCABI LONDON LIONS WHITE
Ding dong. That’s how I’d describe the meeting of Brady and Lions White ahead of the latest Rowley Lane derby.
Joel Nathan’s troops edged past Lions Blue last time out, staging an heroic comeback after being 2-0 down. That man Reiss Mogilner inspired the comeback, with Stanley Offord – the Stuart Pearce of the MGBSFL – joining on the scoresheet.
Nathan pulled off two clever moves in terms of bolstering his squad in recent weeks, with Matt Sofier and Graeme Grossman joining the ranks. Sofier was at Neasden during the glory years and Nathan knows his experience and winning mentality will be vital over the next few months. Grossman, a former Wingate youth player, rolled back the years and showed his quality with a disciplined performance and his battle against Sam Hammerton will be key.
Looking ahead to the game, Nathan told JC Sport: “Rowley Lane derbies come thick and fast and this game will be no different to the game a couple of weeks ago.
“Lions White are coming into the game on a high after a great win last week and although we had the week off, we came back superbly from 2-0 last time to win 3-2.
“The boys will go into the game in a confident mood, however we again have injuries so whilst we welcome back a couple of players we are missing a couple so while i would live to select a settled 11 that is just not the case but that’s Sunday football!
“Whereas we knew a lot about the Lions Blue, I am not so up to date on Lions White and therefore not 100 per cent sure what to expect from the squad James Gershfield had assembled.
“But the guys will be ready for whatever comes at them and will be determined to come off the pitch with three points and make sure we continue to keep pressure on in the league.”
The Lions are flying after their 11-0 demolition of Faithfold last weekend. Youngsters Kiki Levin and Hammerton showed Lions have plenty in the tank in terms of top, young talent and they will be keen to put one over their stablemates.
Jordan Sharifian has shown another side to his game. Having made a big impression up front in the colours of Temple Fortune last season, he has shown his qualities in goal, and there is talk of Eshed Rahav joining him at Rowley Lane over the coming weeks.
It promises to be a big month for the Lions who are finally in a good place as they look to climb off the foot of the table.
Gaffer Gershfield told JC Sport: “Following a great all-round team performance last Sunday against Faithfold in the cup, confidence in our camp is high and we are ready for a battle on Sunday.
“The table doesn't lie and I am fully aware of the threat that Brady pose and I know it will be a difficult game.
“We are in desperate need for a win in the league, having recorded only one in the last five.
“All suspensions are now over and I have a fully fit squad available to me.
“Nearly 18 boys have committed to Sunday so I will have some big decisions to make. It may be top v bottom, but I'm going for an away win.
It’s impossible to separate two talented sets of players – there will be some mouth-watering battles all over the pitch - so I’m going for a score draw.
JC team news: Max Misrahi comes back from a week off and Lions skipper Ben Lampert is set to return to the starting line-up following his three-match suspension. James Gold has rearranged his flight back from the States in order to get back to Rowley in time for the second half – “a great commitment from a top lad!” Sam Hammerton, Kiki Levin and Conor Perl are all set to feature off the back of their hat-tricks last weekend.

CAMDEN PARK vs OAKWOOD A
Eliminated from the London FA County Cup last weekend, league champions Oakwood go in search of their third consecutive victory when they make the trip to Camden Park.
Hadley FC is a ground Oakwood have fond memories of as they beat Hendon United there last season and it’s a surface on which they can play to their strengths.
Sam Cantor and David Woolman registered for Oakwood in the non-Jewish cup competition and boss Dan Kristall admitted it was a case of what might’ve been in a game blighted by sloppy defending and wasteful finishing.
Ahead of the trip to Hadley, Kristall told JC Sport: "We're expecting a tough game - Camden are in form. It’ll be tough and we’ll need to be at our best."
Camden go into the game in great nick, with three straight wins under their belt. Following the win over Raiders, they’ve come through two tough cup games against FC Team. David Khalastchi, Dan Orgel and Matt Pearlman were the marksmen in their impressive 3-0 triumph last weekend.
Kay described the performance of defender Ben Harris as “the bright spot,” with the versatile David Khalatschi also catching the eye.
Camden were in cruise control for much of the game but they will need to put a real shift to live with the league’s leading lights, and Kay knows it. In fact he’s given them a glowing reference.
He told JC Sport: “I’ve been looking forward to this game - I have nothing but respect for the best all-round football team in the league. They don’t rely on star players to win games - they have a squad of good footballers who play for each other, work hard and do the simple things well.
“They are very well organised very fit which makes them a very hard team to beat.
“We are team with players who are not fit enough, that is looking to improve every game and are aiming with in time to use Oakwood as role models to become a good team.
“So we go into the game as big underdogs but confidence is growing with three consecutive wins in league and cup. So confidence is high and we are looking to give Oakwood a run for their money, and while Mr Caro keeps tipping us to lose - like he has in last three games – please keep it going, Danny, you do my team talk for me!”
Camden will huff and puff but in the end Oakwood’s superiority will come through.

MACCABI LONDON LIONS BLUE vs HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB
Sam Marchant hopes the dreaded JC Manager of the Week curse doesn’t strike again ahead of the meeting with a Hendon team playing catch-up.
Nick Barnett was their star man in the terrific win at table-toppers Redbridge last weekend, with Adam Abadi helping him boss the midfield.
Marchant asked his players to send out a message to the league and they did just that, executing his game-plan to perfection. They were calm and ruthless and really frustrated the east Londoners.
Hendon exacted revenge on Fairlop last week, with Moses Seitler pulling the strings. You can expect him to be a fixture in their teams in the Anekstein and big league matches. But the Lions will be relieved to hear he misses out on Sunday.
While some of their rivals have played as many as six games, Hendon have played just the one – a thumping 4-0 success over Lions White.
Once again, the defence - featuring Alex Rosenthal, Zac Garbacz, Josh Bentley and Mordi Weiler – looks well-equipped to deal with whatever the Lions throw at them.
In front of them, Rocky Spitzer can unlock the meanest defence, with Avi Korman right up there in the bracket of the consistently top performing players in the league. Ari Last does what he does best – breaking up play and playing the simple pass – while Zac Lewis is always good for a goal or two, and when he’s not scoring, his twinkle toes mean chances will be put on a plate for the likes of Dovi Fehler and Josh Harris.
Ahead of kick-off, Greg Corin told JC Sport: “Dovi Fehler last game before he goes away for 4 weeks to get married abroad so hoping for a huge performance from him.
“We hope to display a desire to win the game and compete from minute one. It's a game we can’t lose if we're going to try and challenge for the league this year.”
I don’t expect there to be too much between the teams but am tipping Hendon to nick it.

LOS BLANCOS vs FAITHFOLD A
Faithfold expect to have a host of players back following their cup humbling at the hands of Lions White ahead of the trip to title rivals Los Blancos.
I have seen enough of them this season to tell me the 11-0 mauling was just a blip but manager Markiewicz would’ve felt let down that a number of his top stars chose other activities than putting on the famous green and white hoops like week. But more of that in Caro’s Column in this week’s JC.
Markiewicz told JC Sport: "After the shambles last week we hope to get back on track and no better game then against Blancos.
"We have most of our players back this week so should be a really good game."
Like Faithfold, Blancos remain unbeaten in the league. They hit a brick wall against Temple Fortune last week but Joel Salomon would’ve been delighted by their third clean sheet.
Joel Barnett put in “a real captain’s performance” and more of the same will be needed against a potent Faithfold strikeforce.
I can see this being an open and entertaining affair and it wouldn’t surprise me if it finished honours even.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE C
Raiders have had a fortnight to reflect on their cup exit at the hands of Los Blancos. Now they are ready to go again.
L’Orange are one of five teams capable of mounting a title challenge and they will be looking to heap more misery on a Redbridge team that have lost four out of five.
Having lost two out of their last three, joint-manager Jonny Adelman knows the importance of a win on Sunday.
“We are coming back off a weekend without a game so we are hoping that a few of our injured players will be back,” he told JC Sport.
“It’s a big game against a strong Redbridge side who we had a great battle with in the Cup earlier in the season.”
The Redbridge boys believe they are in a false position. They have quality and experience across the team but they could struggle on the slick surface at Wembley – where Raiders are right at home.
For me this is a home banker.

OAKWOOD B vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B
With their hopes of Anekstein glory over for another season, the Oaks return to league action as they go in search of their third consecutive MGBSFL victory in the game against Redbridge B.
Oakwood were swept aside by an Adam Ellis-inspired Bayern Mincha last week but having already beaten one Redbridge team this season, they will be to keep pace with the leading pack.
Redbridge B have lost four out of five but I think it's only a matter of time until they start picking up points on a regular basis. They made life tough for Oakwood A in the cup the other week but no doubt Jason Stein would've picked up some useful tips and done his homework.
Sunday will be all about who wins their individual and collective battles and I can see the points staying in Hertfordshire in a game decided by small details.

SCRABBLE FC vs TEMPLE FORTUNE A
Fortune double parked the bus at Los Blancos last weekend in a performance of defensive grit, resilience and organisation straight out of Jose Mourinho's top-drawer.
Goalkeeper Lee Fegan led by example, showing he still possesses razor sharp reflexes. They frustrated a free-scoring Blancos team and almost pinched it. But that would have been daylight robbery.
But on Sunday they face a different kind of challenge against a Scrabble team aiming to finish the weekend in top spot. Ray Abrahams is still smiling about last Sunday's 11-0 win over L'Equipe.
Craig Edwards and Zak McLeod helped themselves to hat-tricks in a vintage Scrabble performance. And if ever there was a sign that the summer recruits had gelled into the team then that was it.
I can see wing wizard Zac Summerfield playing a key role on Sunday. He is a menace on either wing and it wouldn't surprise me if Linden gave the experienced Gideon Wetrin man-marking duties.
The first 20 minutes will be crucial for Fortune. No nonsense defending will be required against a Scrabble team that will go for the jugular.

REAL HENDON vs CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI
Bouncebackability is the name of the game for joint-leaders Catford & Bromley ahead of what I expect to be a tough work-out against Real Hendon.
Boss Jeff Gotch bemoaned a depleted squad following their first defeat of the season last weekend. Unlike Mourinho he’s not blaming injuries and there will be several returning players looking to make a big statement.
Alex Jacobs has been one of the most consistent performers for the Cats so far. He scored a screamer last weekend and has set the bar high.
On Sunday he will need a little help from his friends. Gotch told JC Sport: “It’s been a long week since we lost to Raiders and nothing less than three points will do this week.
“We know West Hendon playing fields I believe the surface will work in Real’s favour, but we will be looking to hitting back in style.
“We've had a great start this season - only losing once – but that will all mean nothing if we can't bounce back this week.
“I have a full squad back this week apart from a couple of long term injuries so we're ready.
“Real you have been warned!”
The big story for Real this week is the return of superstar striker Gav Noe. Real press officer Raffi Addlestone told JC Sport: “Finally, for the first time this season, he’s been let out of the house! We’re expecting big things from the lad, not just in terms of waist!!!”
Real have games in hand on the teams around them and know the importance of coming away with maximum points.
Addlestone added: “After last week’s cancelled game at Mill Hill Dons, we’re excited to get back out on the pitch.”
This will be Sunday morning football at it’s finest – two honest team battling it out for glory. It promises to be a great advert for the MGBSFL, if not for football purists!

It's all about the league between now and the end of the season for FC Team.
Premier Division Camden Park ended their hopes of silverware in both cup competitions, with Marc Hecht blotting his copybook with a red card last weekend.
With two games in hand on most of the teams above them, Mitch Young's men know what they need to do to get into the promotion mix, starting with maximum points at the Hive.
Faithfold were swept aside by the quality of Aron Gale last weekend. They are joint-bottom and not the free-scoring force David Garson wants them to be.
So it could be a long 90 minutes for the Superhoops at a venue that has witnessed no less than five home defeats.

STRAW HAT PIRATES vs BAYERN MINCHA
The Bayern bandwagon marches on and they will be backed by strong support for the trip to the Pirates on Sunday as they look to maintain joint-top spot.
The team's glorious start continued as they sent first division Oakwood B tumbling out of the cup. Yes Adam Ellis scored three more goals but managers Daniel Holder and Alon Pinhas were quick to mention it was all about the 14 players.
Bayern have been a real breath of fresh air and they will start the game as strong favourites.
But the Pirates won't mind the tag of underdogs. As I suggested, they have hit form at just the right time and will be relishing the test.
The head to head between Gale and Ellis will be worth the admission fee alone.

TEMPLE FORTUNE B vs MILL HILL DONS
A resurgent Temple Fortune B team are relishing Sunday's meeting with high-flying Mill Hill Dons.
Although Jordan Jay grabbed two goals in the epic win over Hertswood, it was Anthony Beilin the Fortune faithful were talking about after the game. His virtuoso performance earned him a place in my Team of the Week. He was mustard.
It's amazing what a win can do. Just ask joint-manager Steven Black. "Well, what a difference a week makes," Black told JC Sport. "The camp is in good spirits and we go into Sunday’s game with confidence.
"We recognise that we’re up against a good side but if we match last week’s intensity and commitment, we’ll be just fine.
"We have a big squad at our disposal this weekend and following some stand-out performances last Sunday, the boys have made this week’s team selection a hard one for us."
The Dons have scored 11 times in their last two outings and manager Brandon Hamme knows they have a good run of games until the Chanukah break.
Hamme told JC Sport: "After last week’s pitchgate, we are all desperate to get back to action this week. Results may have gone our way last week and we know now that if we win our games in hand we will go top.
"We know we can’t take those points for granted and know there are no easy games in this league.
"Last week Temple Fortune picked up a very impressive result against Hertswood Vale so we know they are no pushovers.
"It seems like they are getting better from week to week so we know they won’t make it easy for us on Sunday.
"Every game from now on is a huge game, we need to keep picking up results to keep the title race going."
Patience will be the name of the game for the Dons on Sunday. They will need to silence the Fortune crowd and I can see them trying to pick them off on the counter in what could be a game of cat and mouse.
JC team news: Fortune's injury list "isn’t looking as bad as it was a couple of weeks ago". Jacob Nevitt is the only long-term absentee as he recuperates from a torn achilles. Eric Lewis pulled up with a hamstring injury last weekend so "we’re awaiting results of his scan before we’ll know the length of his recovery". And the game probably comes a little early for Jonny Pressman who is on the mend from a hamstring strain of his own – "we anticipate he’ll be available for the Faithfold game on the 26th".
The results of Joel Sinclair-Horne’s MRI scans were positive, the Dons star is set to return within the next few weeks. Otherwise a clean bill of health.
