Stuart Delmonte conceded that a draw was a “fair result” after he saw his AFC Flixton side held 1-1 by Universal All Stars in the Accountants League Division One.

Playing against a side boasting two ex-FC United players, among other semi-professionals, Flixton will have been pleased with a point, even if they had chances to come away with all three.

The side, playing only their second competitive game in non-Jewish football, went ahead after seven minutes through a Yaniv Salem effort, the player’s second in as many games. It was a lead Flixton held onto through to half time in what was a very tight affair.

The game continued in a very similar manner in the second half with both sides cancelling each other out until Universal All Stars found an equaliser, after Flixton put through their own net.
