Tony Gellman saluted two-goal hero Adam Stevens after firing Manchester Maccabi 1st into the third round of the County Cup.
The Accounts Premier League leaders edged out the Northern Quarter 3-2. Stevens (2) and Grant were on target at Chorlton Sports Club.
Ex-AFC Flixton midfielder Stevens caught the eye with a scissor kick before a long-range thunderbolt sealed the win.
Manchester Maccabi 1st boss Gellman said: "Adam has been outstanding since joining us. He knows his way to goal and is a real driving force for us.
"It’s a long old season but he has shown he will play a big part for us."
Gellman’s troops take a well-earned week’s break before returning to league action.
He added: "It wasn’t our best performance but it doesn’t matter whether you win by one goal or 20 goals in cup competitions. I've been very happy with my players.
"I think we will improve in all areas as the season goes on."
Meanwhile, AFC Flixton surrendered their 100 per cent start to the season when they lost 3-1 to The Crown at the same stage of the competition.
