OAKWOOD A 1 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 1

Ric Blank saluted his players after Oakwood 1-1 draw against defending champions North London Raiders A, in a match where they had goalkeeper Jonny Blain controversy sent off inside the first minute.

Oakwood went into the contest missing several key players; Blank commented: "We were carrying so many walking wounded and lost Rafi Stone on Saturday along with another member of the squad. Kyle Bentwood and Alex Lee were less than half fit and we'd rushed Dale Bradman back from injury too. Without Guy Helman and Brad Wine we still managed to field a tremendous team."

The game sparked to life in the opening exchanges, as Matt Stock raced on to a through ball that was met by the onrushing Blain who slid out of his area. However, much to Oakwood's amazement, referee Martin De La Fuente adjudged that Blain had handled the ball and sent him off. The former NLR man could not believe the decision and his frustration was clear for all to see. Oakwood joint-manager Dan Kristall then remonstrated with the official, but his decision was final.
