An undefeated 45 from debutant Charlie Mason ensured South Manchester got off to a winning start to the season against Manchester Maccabi in the Greater Manchester Amateur Cricket League.

Mason, ably supported by David Cohen and Avrom Topperman, enabled South to reach their target of 155 with the loss of seven wickets.

South recovered from 62-6 after some poor batting against Ray Tammam who finished with figures of 5-45.

Only Shai Rabinowitz made any other meaningful contribution with 30 at the top of the innings.
