Alyth Belsize under-10's Reds finished runners-up in one of the junior events at the annual Jom Havoetbal tournament in Amsterdam.
Following on from the success and enjoyment of the Jom Havoetbal tournament last year, the club took two teams for the weekend.
The U10 Reds played up an age group this year, and were facing players aged 11 and 12 years of age.
The team consisted of Jake Brass, Max Cutner (playing on his 10th birthday), Zac Paul, Rudy Berman, Ben and Josh Hurst, Alex Godfrey and Gabriel De Leuw.
A goal from Ben Hurst gave Alyth Belsize a flying start in the opener, but this was followed by a 4-0 defeat by RP United.
In the third game Alyth Belsize FC beat The Cheider Boys 1-0 with a goal by the birthday
boy Max Cutner.
The final game was against RP Liverpool. With the way the results had gone it was a ‘winner takes all’ match. Whoever won would be in the final, but a draw would let in RP United.
Alyth Belsize were somewhat unfortunate to be trailing with only three minutes of the match left, but a
wonderfully worked move resulted in Max Cutner firing home an equaliser that was soon followed by a winner, scored by Zac Paul from a corner for Alyth Belsize.
The final was against the other pool winners - Brazil. They had won all their pool matches by no fewer than three goals, so Alyth Belsize knew they were in for a tough game.
The Brazil team - made up of 11 and 12-year-olds - were ultimately too strong for Alyth Belsize's team of nine and 10-year olds, but the Londoners gave a fantastic account of themselves in a match they lost 1-0.
Alyth Belsize U10 boss Simon Cutner said: "Players, parents, grandparents and siblings had a fantastic weekend in Amsterdam, and we look forward to playing there again next year."
Alyth Belsize under-7's claimed one victory over their four matches to finish third overall.
They went down 2-0 in their opening match against eventual winners RP Barcelona.
A double from Theo Brass clinched a 2-0 success against RP Valencia.
Brass was on target again in the next game, but they went down 2-1 against RP Madrid.
The team finished with a 1-1 draw against eventual runners-up LJG Netzer, with Otto Terry their goal man.
Alyth Belsize U7's boss Mandy Brass said: "It was a wonderful experience for our young team. They gave a really good account of themselves and are really keen to play again next year."
HIS were also involved in what is the largest Jewish football tournament in Europe, outside of the European Maccabi Games and Maccabiah.
Taking part in the competition for the second time, they were unable to repeat last year's heroics - when the team won all their games without conceding a single goal.
This time they were paired with boys who, on average, were two years older. They managed to win two of their games convincingly (8-0 and 7-2) and only narrowly lost the other two (1-0 and 3-1) to just miss out on the final. Jesse Cooper finished as the team's top-scorer with seven goals.
