Borussia boss Brad Papier criticised his players for "a very sloppy performance from start to finish". PSJ got their tactics right and BB struggled to play their football. The visitors were unable to dominate as in the previous two meetings.
However, a man-of-the-match performance from BB's Jay Sharer, on his first competitive Sunday league game for seven years, laid the foundations for the win. He played 90 minutes at centre-back and was "absolutely faultless," according to Papier.
Indeed it was Sharer who opened the scoring from a corner on the 30-minute mark. The PSJ keeper misjudged the flight of the ball and Sharer spun sharply before smashing a half-volley with the outside of his boot into the top corner.
The result was sealed five minutes from time when the ball was won high and forced a four-on-two, leading to Adam Bowman to release Hart who first time stroked it into the bottom corner.
Relieved BB boss Papier told JC Sport: "We were far from at our best but we’re delighted to be in the next round of the cup.
"We know it’ll be a tough semi-final against Chigwell but the treble hopes live on."
Papier added: "Massive credit to PSJ as they were much better than the last two times we played them and massive credit to my boys who always seem to find a way to win despite how good or bad we play."
PSJ boss Elio Elia told JC Sport; "Despite the defeat, I was proud of the performance of the team. We had some good spells in the game and hit the woodwork a couple of times, but unfortunately two avoidable errors cost us in the end.
"On another day it may have gone our way but credit to Barnet - we wish them luck for the rest of the tournament."
