Scrabble produced complete performance, says Abrahams

This was a magnificent display from Scrabble who showed from the kick-off that they were up for the game and determined to extend their winning run to 42 points.

Within 20 seconds of the kick-off a slick move between four Scrabble players caused havoc in the Hendon defence and striker Sherman powered the ball home from 12 yards.

Scrabble looked impressive as they dominated the game with pace and impressive football and should have added to the score in the first 15 to 20 minutes. Dan Green was superb in Scrabble's midfield with a powerful display.

The hosts doubled their lead midway through the half when Sherman again popped up in the penalty area to power home after Hendon failed to clear the ball and extend the score to 2-0.

Hendon were stringing together some good moves as they tried to get the ball past Scrabble keeper Ben Law who was in impressive form.

Hendon battled hard after half time to try and breakdown the Scrabble defence but were caught on the break after 67 minutes with Peters firing home to make it 3-0 following a pinpoint cross from the wing by Zak McLeod.

Sherman was looking unplayable as efforts were saved by the Hendon keeper with his feet and then a one-handed save to push the ball over the bar but on 75 minutes a high ball into the area was met with power by Josh Bentley whose header hit the underside of the bar and bounced down for Elliot Espinoza to finish with a header on the line to make it 4-0.

Scrabble were on fire as Sherman sent substitute Don Nineberg on for Josh Sheridan through the middle to net but the goal was ruled offside.

Zak McLeod saw his cross sail into the net following a rebound from his earlier shot which hit the post to make it 5-0 on 85 to complete the scoring and send the Scrabble boys home with their 14th win of the season to open up a 19 point gap at the top of Division Two.

Scrabble boss Ray Abrahams told JC Sport: "The lads looked really up for this one today and tore into Hendon from the kick off. There were so many impressive performances today and we looked sharp.

"I want to thank the Hendon players for giving it a real go and for such a sporting game and they are a credit to this league.

"All round it was a complete performance with another clean sheet and we looked strong with Dan Green and Elliot Espinoza dominating the midfield areas and Danny Sherman a real handful upfront. Josh Bentley gave us added presence at the back and Ben Law must be the form keeper in this league.

"If we play like this for the remainder of the season we will be there or thereabouts in the title race but it's not over and we must stay focused because we've won nothing yet."
