Will Castle saluted midfield maestro Jake Saunders after Camden Park climbed to third in the MGBSFL Premier Division after secured a 3-1 victory over Blizzard Storm.
A deadly double from Rob Hershkorn helped Camden Park beat Blizzard for the second time this season, but it was Saunders who lit up the contest with the goal of the game as Camden maintained their excellent run of form.
A hard-fought contest saw Camden come up against an organised Blizzard team who were hard to break down. But a moment of magic enabled Camden to take the lead 20 minutes in when the ball fell to Saunders about 25 yards out and he hit it first time. He caught it perfectly and the ball flew into the top corner leaving the keeper routed to the spot. It was a moment of individual brilliance.
Camden doubled their advantage two minutes later when skipper Hershkorn lofted the ball over the keeper from a tight angle and it looked like the hosts were going to coast through the rest of the game.
Blizzard started to dominate from there and pulled one back via former London Rovers star Josh Bharier following a slick move. Camden had lost their discipline and shape and half time couldn't come soon enough.
Will Castle's men used the interval to regroup and they came out in the second half the same team that started the first, pressing high up the pitch and putting Blizzard under pressure.
It was still a battle but Camden showed superior fitness levels while Blizzard were tiring.
Castle brought on some fresh legs as Camden managed the game - "something we were unable to do last year" - and didn't give Blizzard any opportunity to get back into the game.
Hershkorn sealed the points With a couple of minutes to go, latching on to a "tidy" Sammy Benzo flick to go round the keeper and slot home.
Camden boss Will Castle told JC Sport: "Last season we would have let our heads drop and not get anything out of this game.
"It's so pleasing to see that we have started to build in character and grind out results that we wouldn't have got in the past."
Castle was also keen to praise the influential Jake Saunders after the game. He told JC Sport: "Jake has continued his brilliant form and there really is no stopping him at the moment and is an absolute pleasure to watch. Both his defensive discipline and creativity going forward is outstanding."
Blizzard boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "I can't be disappointed with our effort this morning. I had four key players injured and another five away. The youngsters that came into today did well and it gives me great confidence in my squad for the season."
