Salford Jewish CC went down by 18 runs in the GMACL Jim Gettins 20/Twenty Cup.

On a baking hot day at Wilmslow, Salford were a man short after Elliot Koffman was forced to pull out at the last minute. With fielding restrictions for the powerplay in the first four overs reducing teams by three fielders, they were under the hammer early on as Wilmslow used the gaps in the 7 man field to hit 64 off the first four overs.

Salford battled back, Daniel Paul particularly effective taking 4-12 off three overs. Robert Marks (1-6 off 2) and Jonny Wineberg (2-22 off 4) also stifled the onslaught, but Elliot Rowe anchored the Wilmslow innings with 64 and Wilmslow eventually reached 175-8 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 176 to win, Salford took a steady approach as Wilmslow bowled tightly. Jamie Benjamin was caught and bowled off the last ball of the fourth over with Salford on just 18. Robert Marks joined Jonny Wineberg at the crease as they put on 47 for the second wicket before Marks was bowled for 18.
