Ben Sahar has signed a four-year contract with La Liga outfit Espanyol worth €500,000-a-year.

The striker, 19, passed a medical on Tuesday. Having left Chelsea, Sahar will come face-to-face with Yossi Benayoun on August 2 when Espanyol takes on Liverpool in a pre-season friendly in Barcelona.

Chelsea will reportedly receive a €1 million transfer fee for Sahar, having signed him from Hapoel Tel Aviv for £520,000 three years ago.

Sahar said: “I am very excited and hope this will be a new beginning. I’ve heard a lot about the club and it’s great to think that I will be playing in the same league as Ronaldo and Kaka.”
