Played in blustery conditions at Copthall Playing Fields, HISHU White faced the familiar opposition of Hendon Hawks for a mouthwatering local derby.
Both teams were eager to get an early advantage but it was the home side that started stronger, controlling the early stages of the game with Raphael Rosenfelder and Adam Goldberg out muscling their opposing players in midfield.
The deadlock was broken on 12 minutes. A long diagonal ball from Dan Robinson on the right hand side found Kovi Rubenstein out wide on the edge of the area, his low shot was too much for the Hawks keeper and HIS White were on their way at 1-0.
A nervy spell ensued for the next 10 minutes with the Hawks looking threatening down the left flank and clearly looking for a way back. However HIS White were able to absorb several waves of attack and finally won a corner. Netanel Rubin took a well rehearsed set piece picking out Doron Shooter on the edge of a crowded box who needed no invitation to shoot. A left footed volley into the roof of the net left the flailing Hawks keeper with no chance and at 2-0 HIS White were firmly in control.
Not content to sit back, on the 27th minute Rubenstein turned the screw further adding another goal to his tally by chipping the on - rushing keeper into the top left hand corner of the net.
The Hawks continued to push forward, but a combination of poor passing, failure to take chances and poor final balls allowed HIS White to stay in control for the remainder of the half. Their experienced back four of Avi Van Messel, Bertie Green, Aryeh Klein and Shami Klein always looked comfortable, containing the Hawks on every advance. A fourth goal on the stroke of half time saw HIS White with the upper hand at the break.
The second half got under way with both teams fashioning chances, but not taking them, until the 39th minute when Rubin latched onto a slightly under-hit backpass deep in the Hawks own half. His quick thinking and dazzling footwork found him with just the keeper to beat and he slotted it home with confidence.
At 5-0, both sides teams knew this was going to be HIS Whites day but they continued to push forward led by Aaron Rosenberg, and Doni Wiesenfeld who combined well together.
A debut goal for Doni Wiesenfeld, who used his pace to great effect put the game beyond any doubt but HIS White were not finished.
The moment of the match came on the 50th minute when Aaron Rosenberg won an aerial challenge. The ball fell to his midfield partner Raphael Rosenfelder who played a first time through ball to Shooter who took the ball on a 20-yard run beating four defending challenges, rounded the keeper and coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net.
The crowd were in seventh heaven, quite literally as it was 7-0!
The game ebbed and flowed, with another impressive goal from an impossible angle by centre half Rubenstein - taking his tally to four.
Eventually the final whistle blew allowing HIS White to claim an 8-0 victory, and two points putting them back into joint second spot in the table.
HIS White manager Ben Shooter told the waiting Press: "Losing today was simply not an option. We have a squad of outstanding players who have finally gelled as a unit. Im taking each game as it comes, but all credit to the boys today."
