Shahar Peer will be looking to revive her fading fortunes in the French Open, starting on Sunday.

Her preparations received a blow as she was stunned 1-6, 7-5, 3-6 by Australia's Casey Dellacqua (429) in the first round of the Brussels Open. This was Peer's first-ever defeat to a player outside of the top 200.

Peer recently reached the third round of the Italian Open, where she lost to the eventual winner Maria Sharapova. The Israeli, who reached a career high of 11 last month, has now fallen to 20 in the WTA rankings.

Peer will need to at least match her performance last year when she reached the fourth round at Roland Garros where she lost to Serena Williams to defend the ranking points she gained then. Doubles specialists Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram are the only other Israelis in the main draw in Paris.
