Arguably the biggest moment of the match arrived and in the opening couple of minutes of the second half where Lions had a chance to get back in to the game from the penalty spot. Dean Caplin made a superb one-handed save low down to his right to keep them at bay.
Oakwood went on to punish Lions for the miss and scored four quick fire goals to improve their goal difference and put the game to bed. Josh Rose, Brad Wine and Lee completed the scoring.
Oakwood joint-manager Dan Kristall told JC Sport: "Although it was a completely different 11 to last week’s Lions cup side (with the same team name), we cruised home to a comfortable victory once we got hold of the ball and used our pace/power down the flanks combined with the strength of Alex Lee in his alternative centre forward position.
"We move on to Blizzard next Sunday whilst the “Top 2” do battle. Write us off at your peril!"
An MLL spokesman said: "It was not our day but it looks like we will end up mid-table, and that’s probably what the season deserved."
