Republic of Mancunia extended their unbeaten run to 11 games with a 3-0 win over Crumpsall. The victory saw Anthony Bloch’s men continue their march towards the treble.

Bloch said: “We are playing well. Though the 3-0 was not as convincing as we would like, Maccabi losing is better than us winning 25-0! For the first time this season we have the league in our hands.”

Despite the scoreline, Crumpsall competed well and pushed high up the pitch to prevent Republic having the space in which to play their passing game. A competitive performance from the hosts was undermined though two minutes before half time when Aaron Black’s attempted clearance hit player-manager Zevi Saunders and fell invitingly for Mike Gastwirth to fire home the opening goal.

A second goal was not far away as Moishe Hasid found himself through on goal but appeared to hesitate, seemingly thinking that he was offside, before half volleying home.
