A hat-trick from ROB JACOBS helped title hopefuls Republic of Flixton get their campaign off to a dream start as they hit South Manchester for six.

A late venue change saw the match moved from Republic's new ground to Frederick Road due to an unplayable pitch, but it mattered little as they blew South away with further strikes from Jacob Kleinman, James Rosenberg and Adam Tauber putting the icing on the cake.

Elsewhere, the MJSL Shield was cancelled as Haroldeans were unable to field more than seven players against Manchester 3rds.
