BOCA JEWNIORS 3 LOUGHTON ORIENT 1
Two goals from player-manager Jamie Weinrich plus a penalty from Yaakov Goldin sealed a memorable their first-ever win in the JC MSFL.
Orient went into this game full of confidence after a great comeback last week. However, they were slow out the traps as Boca pressed forward from the first whistle, and had a goal ruled out for a marginal offside, which came from a Weinrich free kick, off the head of Goldin.
This did not stop the Boca front line as Weinrich smacked in a beautiful shot from 25 yards out, and it was too powerful for the Orient keeper.
Soon it became 2-0 as another free kick was swung in, and the Orient player pushed over Goldin in the area, and was awarded a stonewall penalty. Even with all of the Orient players surrounding the ref, the decision was not changed and yellow cards were dished out left, right and centre. Goldin expertly put the penalty away, right in the bottom corner.
Things got worse for Orient as their indiscipline went from bad to worse, more yellow cards were shown, and a reckless challenge on winger Nyman brought a second yellow for Dave Mitchell who was given his marching orders. From the resulting free kick, Boca hit the post through another Weinrich set-piece, which found Goldin's head. At half time it should have been at least 3-0 or 4-0 to the home side.
Orient were pressing hard to get back into the game, but were struggling to test the Boca keeper.
After half time it was all Orient and their pressure was rewarded when player-manager Dan Curtis coolly slotted home a penalty to make it 2-1.
But the two- goal lead was restored when the Orient keeper cleared a ball straight to Weinrich, who then slotted the ball calmly past the keeper.
Weinrich had the bit between his teeth, and nearly got his hat-trick, when a free kick from 25 yards out was smashed towards goal, and the keeper made a great save to deny him.
Orient had to attack, but Monk's goal was never in danger as the back four, defended brilliantly throughout the second half. Paul Frangi and Alex Sherr lead the defensive line with great composure, aided by both full-backs, Chandler Monk and Brett Schuman. Ryan Monk only had to make one save during the match from a header in injury time.
As the full time whistle blew, the Boca cheers were heard from Sollys as the team celebrated their first win after a year and a half of trying.
Boca player-manager Jamie Weinrich told JC Sport: "It has taken a few weeks for our squad to settle and gel, but I have felt throughout this season that the win was coming and it was only a matter of time.
"I believe in the squad that we have and I believe there is more to come from this team. It is more important now than ever that we stay focused on improving as a team and don't let this victory go in vain.
"I am proud of all the lads this week who showed great spirit, discipline and determination against a team who lost their heads."
Boca keeper Ryan Monk said: "I was glad to have my least busiest day in goal, at times i didn't know what to do!"
Loughton Orient player-manager Dan Curtis told JC Sport: "We started too slowly and gifted them a headstart which we could never quite claw back.
"I'm proud of the effort the boys put in after playing with 10 men for most of the game. We need to put this game behind us and concentrate on getting back on track next week."
