With a squad shorn of six first teamers, Redbridge, playing in their new Dream Team kits, performed admirably to run a very good Lions side as close as they did.
Lions took the lead after 10 minutes when a simple though ball led to a miscommunication that saw keeper and defenders leaving each other to deal with it and the Lions striker got his toe to it and guided the ball home.
Lions were totally unrecognisable from the team that played earlier in the season, they were running the game but after 30 minutess, Russell Goldstein scored a well-crafted equaliser and from then on, Redbridge were in the ascendency.
But if the first goal was bad, the second goal was even worse with a total mix-up leading to an own goal by Nate Kashket which Jacobs believes "was totally avoidable".
Still, Redbridge had enough time to get themselves back in the game and with another smart through ball by Berkley, Daniel Garfinkle finished and the game was there to be won.
A brilliant run by Sam Sollosi saw him upended in the box and a stonewall penalty in the eyes of the Redbridge players and bench, but the ref didn’t see it that way.
The winner for Lions came in the last five minutes with a finish inside the box with Redbridge players standing off and allowing a control and swivel inside the box.
Jacobs told JC Sport: "The game deserved to end up all square but we have to take defeat on the chin and keep going.
"I couldn’t ask for any more from my boys but just didn’t have enough cover today when we really needed it."
