Jon Jacobs says Redbridge Jewish Care A are ready for their forthcoming clash against pace-setters Hendon United Sports following their 4-1 demolition over Maccabi London Lions A.
Jacobs described RJC's first-half performance as their "best in a long time" as they followed up last week's Anekstein Cup win over Lions with a ruthless performance.
Redbridge came out of the blocks firing and totally dominated Lions from the off. The opening goal came after a minute with a perfect through ball from Ben Sollosi who played in the returning younger brother, Nathan Sollosi for a crisp finish.
Goal two came from a set-piece corner with a debut goal for Jason Goldstein. Just before half-time, captain Darren Brown got the faintest touch and finished off another set-piece.
RJC boss Jon Jacobs described the first half performance as Redbridge "best 45 minutes for a long time, totally dominating and playing some fabulous pass and move football'.
The second half was as disappointing as could be. Redbridge played in second gear and couldn’t get going and Lions deservedly scored with 25 minutes to go via Richard Gold.
A few tactical shifts were made and Adam Hakimi moved into the midfield to toughen things up and Jordan Sapler brought on to shore things up in defence.
A breakaway by Nathan Sollosi saw a beautiful finish by the excellent James Berkley saw RJC's three-goal cushion restored.
The last 10 minutes saw the Garfinkle with a host of one-on-ones and the Lions keeper stood firm but Garfinkle "would not have been flattered to have scored a double hat-trick".
RJC boss Jon Jacobs told JC Sport: "We now have a week off before facing our friends from Hendon in what should be a titanic battle."
Lions joint-manager Johnathan Meltzer told JC Sport: "The game was lost in first half when went 3-0 down. We started slowly again and this has been our issue all season.
"We changed formation and got an early goal to make it 3-1 and looked to be getting some momentum. Then Alex Levack got injured and with all our subs used we went down to 10, from then on we had a mountain to climb.
"Let’s not take anything away from Redbridge they look like a superb outfit with full of ambition."
