Aly Raisman admits America’s historic victory at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Scotland was easier than expected.
The Olympic double-gold medallist picked herself up off the floor after failing to secure a medal in the Individual competition to help America maintain their dominance in the Team event with a third consecutive victory.
Making her team finals debut on the balance beam, Raisman, 21, executed a piked front to wolf jump to open her routine. She closed with an Arabian double front dismount for a 14.266.
She was equally as impressive with her dynamic floor routine which featured her signature set and scored 15.025.
America’s winning tally of 181.338 was five points clear of China and surprise bronze medal winners GB.
Reflecting on the team’s record-breaking success at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Raisman said: "We know we can do these routines in our sleep."
Raisman took two years off after London 2012 and she hopes to become the first American woman to compete in back-to-back Olympic teams since 2000.
She missed out on a medal in the all-round competition, dropping points after coming off the uneven bars.
