Pretty in pink but causing a stink as the MSFL gets colourful - The Jewish Chronicle

I can't believe what the world is coming to with pink shirts and boots becoming increasingly popular at all levels of the game. First, South Manx A wore the feminine-coloured tops. This was followed by the JC MSFL's answer to Arsenal striker Nicklaus Bendtner as East London Knights player-manager James Ryan and Glenthorne United B's Jason Silver recently invested in a pair of Nike Mercurial Vapor IVs.

Ryan bought his pair before last Sunday's cup game against Catford & Bromley Maccabi, and said: "I expect a bit of abuse. I can't believe that I actually bought them, but they do look good. My teammates have had some things to say to me."

Here are a few. Grant Stone said: "I think it will be an excuse for someone to give James a good kicking. I mean, what defender wants to be made a fool of from someone wearing pink boots?"
Darryl Rozelaar was straight to the point, saying: "Pink boots offend me."
Paul Sanders has nicknamed his manager, Julie, following his controversial purchase, and said: "What next? Will James get a bikini wax?"

Mike Konzon has threatened "to burn them". Josh Danan feels differently. "It's all very gay but, to be honest, I quite like them." Ryan ended up having the last laugh after scoring a hat-trick with his new lucky pink boots. Rumour has it that the rest of the squad is now contemplating buying a pair. By way of celebration, and to coincide with a two-week break, the team will spend this weekend holding a Xmas/Chanukah party in Leeds.

Faithfold C player-manager David Garson is glad to see the back of November. He spent it growing a moustache, raising funds for Prostate Cancer Awareness. Garson said: "I was breaking some new ground, becoming Faithfold's first-ever scorer sporting a moustache and first Faithfold manager with a moustache in 20 years. The moustache has gone but hopefully the goals have not."

Josh Gordon has joined Brady Maccabi from London Maccabi Lions. He is the third Premier Division player to join the Edgware club this season, following in the footsteps of Josh Rosenfeld and Lee Platt with whom he played with in the Wingate & Finchley youth team. Gordon said: "Touch wood, the knees are ready to take it."

Daniel Lipman is London Maccabi Lions' Under 15 Player of the Month. London Maccabi Lions A are missing Matt Davis, Adam Lauffer, Rob Glass, Danny Castle, Eddie Manson and Guy Morris for the trip to Stanbridge & Tilsworth in the last 32 of the FA Sunday Cup. Their opponents will feature several players from Leighton Town and Dunstable Town who play in the Southern League.

North West Neasden A will attempt to reach the fourth round of the Sunday Challenge Cup for the first time when they take on Caribb Club FC of the Metropolitan League. The JC MSFL runaway leaders welcome back Daniel Levenfiche, Ricky Kennet, Matt Sofier and Andy Glynne. Matt Stock and Sammy Ross are out.

Joint-manager Jamie Cole said: "This season is going to be the biggest challenge of all time for NWN. We all know that it's going to be a massive test for us to come out on top this Sunday.
"We are not afraid. What lies ahead excites me as much as anything I have experienced at Neasden. The club is looking to improve all the time and we have to keep winning trophies."

Members past and present of Casual Nomads Cricket Club were this week raising a toast after former player Angelo Mathews made his one-day international debut for Sri Lanka against New Zealand. The former Under 19 captain famously scored a double century against London Maccabi Vale in his only game for Nomads.
