Pole-vaulter Wolfenden reaches new heights

Sale Harriers pole vaulter Lucie Wolfenden, 17, became the new Greater Manchester county champion after jumping 3.10m, just five centimetres short of her outdoor personal best.

Her sister, Ellie, scaled 2.00m to win silver in the U15 age group.

Idan Gal-Shohet of Highgate Harriers took the U20 Middlesex long jump title at Lee Valley with 6.41m.

Jake Segal’s PB of 6.57m in the U15 shot secured the bronze medal for the Maccabi London Harrier, while V40 sprint specialist Adam Richards-Gray, also won bronze at the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire county event, with a season’s best of 26.81 for the 200m. 

Outside the national county championship weekend, Adam Firsht, 16, won both the 400m (53.04 PB) and 800m (2:03.77) at the Youth Development League (YDL) meeting at Harrow. His Brighton & Hove team-mate, U20 Tomer Tarragano, lowered his 1,500m PB by more than a minute to 4:01.57 at the BMC Regional Races in London.
