David Peters, 41, reaffirmed his position as one of the country’s outstanding Masters athletes with a commanding victory at the British Masters Indoor Championships at Lee Valley.

Herne Hill Harrier Peters took the M40 800m title in 2:02.51, a clear two seconds ahead of his nearest challenger.

Peters said: “The pace felt very comfortable and I am confident that I could have run close to two minutes if it had proved necessary.”
